We’re not slowing down. And neither is the life we want to live.
Aloha! We’re Jack and Elaine. Seniors With Latitude started with travel, and travel is still a big part of who we are. But somewhere along the way, we realized the real story wasn’t just where we were going. It was how we were still able to keep going.
We want the energy to explore when we get there. We want to stay strong enough to walk the old streets, climb the hills, haul the suitcase, try something new and still feel like doing it again tomorrow.
So this site has grown with us. You’ll still find our travels, where we stayed, what we loved, what we’d skip next time and the things we wish we’d known before we went. But now we’re also sharing more of what helps us keep living this way: staying active, feeling good, traveling lighter and finding better ways to keep doing the things we love. We don’t have retirement all figured out. We’re just not terribly interested in making our world smaller. And if you’re not either, you’re in the right place.

Our Recent Travels
There are still far too many places on our list. In 2024, for our 15th anniversary and my birthday, we finally checked off one of mine: ten glorious days in the Maldives. Since then we’ve explored Scotland, taken our first Caribbean cruise and discovered Puerto Rico deserved far more than the few days we gave it.
And sometimes the adventure is closer to home. We spent a month living in a 1918 building in the historic mining town of Jerome, Arizona. Different places, different kinds of trips, same idea: there is still an enormous world out there, and we intend to keep seeing it.

How We Got Here
Our traveling life really began in 2013, when house and pet sitting started taking us around the world, often for weeks or months at a time. Instead of simply visiting a place, we could settle in and actually live there for a while. Here’s the story of our pet-sitting travels and how they became such a big part of the way we see the world.
Over time, though, we learned that having the freedom to go somewhere isn’t much use if you don’t feel up to enjoying it once you arrive. That’s why Seniors With Latitude is growing beyond destinations and travel tips to include more of what we’re learning about staying active, feeling good and making this life easier to keep living.

We never imagined travel would become such a large part of our lives. We simply kept finding ways to make more of it possible.
We still pay attention to the budget. We just prefer finding smart ways to make the life we want work rather than assuming we have to give it up.

There’s More Latitude Ahead
We’re still going places. We’re still trying things. And we’re increasingly interested in the things that help us stay strong, feel good, travel lighter and keep saying yes when something interesting comes along.
If that sounds like your kind of life too, stick around. We have plenty more places to go, things to discover and stories to tell. Hope our paths cross somewhere out in the world.
